Nancy’s ephemeral gardens
Place Stanislas becomes an oasis of green during Jardin Ephémère – trees, flowers, beds of plants, and original timber creations adorn the paved square as well as deckchairs or benches to rest on.
Every year, the city’s Parks and Gardens department imagines a new design inspired by a theme in the news which it reveals at the start of the summer. Travel, history, heritage, twin towns and science are some of the previous inspirations. At the end of September, after several months of work, the result is revealed for the public’s enjoyment.
Built from a sustainable perspective using recycled materials and plants which will go on to be used in other green spaces, the Jardin Ephémère is also an excellent showcase for nature conservation. It is a fine tribute to Nancy’s botanical traditions that so inspired the artists of the Ecole de Nancy.
You may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of it during your visit!

Strolling through the aisles, we measure the interest of locals for good food, we discover, imagine, taste!
To initiate the discovery of the city of Nancy we invite you to discover the large central market around a gourmet visit. During one of the two sessions, October 25 or 26, from 06:30PM to 09:00PM. A meeting point will be given at the conference venue, a person will accompany you to the covered market. You can also go directly to the main entrance of the market 52 Rue Saint-Dizier, 54000 Nancy (itinerary)
Grouping around 65 merchants, the central market of Nancy is posed, as a figurehead, at the entrance of the New City of Charles III, close to the famous Central Point (axes Saint Jean – Saint Dizier). It is a beautiful U-shaped building whose central space (called here the central hall) – was covered with a glass roof. It has just been renovated, after 12 years of work.
This vast building has a different face depending on the side where it is approached: in the East, Rue St Dizier, where the traffic is intense, it aligns the flower shops, booksellers and snacks, we enter by the Central Hall under an imposing clock. On its two wings, outside, the atmosphere is busy, the stalls of clothing merchants back to its walls. To the west, classical façade, it displays an august serenity and opens on the wide Charles III square. It is a must for gourmets and restaurateurs and a locomotive of the regional food market!
